RE: Changing Out The Onan 4000 In A Winnie 29B

Having had a Honda EV4010 in out last class C I would not recommend one if you don't like noise. They actually turn a constant 3750 rpm not 3600 as someone posted and the cooling fans make a very annoying high pitched whine that will really get on your nerves.

RE: Way to tell if refrig recall has been done in a used rv?

A call to Dometic with the model and serial number will get you the answer. I bought a '86 class C in 2004 and was told about the recall. Called Dometic and it had not been done. They told me to take it to a RV service shop and they would fix it. They did. Mine was a three way and they did away with the 12v power option.

RE: Are there 12V/120 DIGITAL FLAT SCREEN TV'S

There is really no reason to buy a special 12v TV anymore. You can buy a 100w inverter that will plug into your power socket for $20.00 that will run any but the biggest TV. I power a 22" Viseo LCD TV and a Direct TV receiver with a 100w inverter. Works fine. Total draw 74w.

RE: Flag holder

A trick I learned from a Sirius radio mount was smear a little Vasilene (sp)-petroleum jelly in the cups. My radio mount kept falling off of the windshield and that fixed it.

RE: generator db, looking at buying a new one

There are a few, very few, generators that are truly quiet but none of them are very small. Some of the Onan quiet diesel model generators you see in high end class A motorcoachs are nearly silent. Trouble is they start at around 7500w and bigger and are very expensive. Quiet can be done but the great majority of RV'ers aren't willing to step up and pay the price.
My personal solution to noisy generator was designing and building a box that I could put a Honda EU1000i in that had good sound deadening qualities. I carry it in the back of my toad and set it on the ground behind our coach. I don't know exactly what the DBa is but I tested it at 20' with a 50% load with a DBa meter thats lowest reading was 50 DBa and it would not move the needle off of the peg doing measurements for the full 360 degrees.
That Honda charges my four 6v golf cart batteries through my converter when my solar panels won't due to cloudy rainy weather we have often here in NW Washington. Our 1800w inverter takes care of our 120v AC needs except for the microwave. For it we use the 6500w noisy Onan. We now have a AC unit like the one Randy Agee posted a building series of posts on that will run on our 1000 just fine.

RE: Wifi

A good option and the one I use is a Alfa AWUS 036 H USB adapter. It has a screw on antenna that can be removed and coax cable and a remote antenna added. check with data-alliance.net.

RE: Chrysler asks for bailout, gives bonuses....

I don't see how they can call themselves Americas big three auto makers.
In my case we have two Chrysler vehicles a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan ES --- Made in Canada. A 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser --- Made in Mexico. American car maker-I don't think so.

RE: generator db, looking at buying a new one

All generators are "Loud". Some are just louder than others. The Honda EU2000i is considered a nice quiet generator that has a 53-59 db rating depending on load. I hear them running in campgrounds we go to all the time and they don't fit my idea of quiet.

RE: Copilot 11

Co-Pilot Live Laptop 11 is a total disaster. They completely redid the platform from Co-Pilot 10. I have Copilot 6 and 10 and upgraded (I thought) to 11.It was terrible. I called ALK and complained to the tech support guy and without any further discussion he said return it and we will refund your money. He said they knew they had a mess and were working on fixing it. That was this spring so they may have it fixed by now. I liked both of the previous versions I had and if they have gotten 11 fixed I would consider repurchasing it. If you call them ask if they have gotten it fixed.
I am presently using Delorme Street Atlas Plus and like it.

RE: Tire choices - 19.5 all season

If you are going to put all-season tires on your coach please ask the people that sell them to you if they will take them back if you have wandering issues with them. All season tires have wider spacing between the rubber blocks in the tread and can have a "squishy" feel to them.
I got all season tires when I had all the tires replaced on the class C we had last. I didn't ask for them that is just what they sold me. I immediately noticed the driveability was worse and it wandered more. I went back to the tire store I bought them from (Discount Tire) and asked if the all season tires could cause the problem. Much to my surprise they said "Yes". We had them installed days before we went on a 4000 mile trip. They said to bring it in at my earliest convenience and they would replace all seven (spare on back) with highway tread at no charge even though I had put 4000 miles on them. Problem solved.

RE: Generac Generator Parts Cross Reference?

The switch in the picture is a standard automotive 1/8" pipe thread 4 psi low oil pressure light switch. Any auto parts store will have it.
Take your laptop into the store and show them the picture. It takes a special socket if you can't get it out with a pair of channel-lock pliers. A parts store like Schucks or Advanced Auto will likely have the socket also.

RE: Generator for new motorhome

Another not so convenient option would be a Honda EU3000 or similar Yamaha and put on a slide-out tray in the generator compartment. I believe there are electric start models of some of them. It can't be run in the compartment due to overheating issues in a enclosed space but would work on a roll-out tray. Check with wisesales.com.
